Boutique Lilly Layne Hosts ‘Donuts with Santa’ Fundraiser to Help Saraland Woman Fight Cancer | Mobile County Alabama News

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – The holiday season brings the spirit of giving and holiday cheer, and a local Saraland store hosted a festive event to not only bring smiles to the kids in the community, but also help a special woman named Kathrina, continues her battle with cancer.

When Jessica Simmons found out that a local business was needed to help organize a fundraiser to raise money for Kathrina O’rear Hamm, she didn’t hesitate to donate her boutique, Lilly Layne.

Kathrina, known as “Kat” to those around her, is battling cancer. The two have never met before, but Kathrina’s fight struck Simmons.

“It really touched my heart. I lost my father and mother-in-law to cancer so I had to step in and do something, whatever I could do to help,” said said Jessica Simmons, owner of Lilly Layne.

The fundraiser, “Donuts with Santa” gave children the chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas, while enjoying donuts. What could be sweeter? All proceeds collected and a percentage of Lilly Layne’s sales were donated to “Fight for Kat”.

I am very touched, there are just no words to really describe the feeling I am feeling and I am just really grateful to have friends like Sharon, Jessica rally behind me because I have them really need at this point, ”says Catherine.

The community of Saraland, her family and friends have proven that Kathrina never fights alone.

When a close friend needs your help, you jump into the game. She’s one of my daughter’s dance moms and she’s become a great friend of mine and there was no doubt that it was time to step in and get Saraland to join one of us and help her get through this, ”said one of Kathrina’s daughters. close friends.

Kathrina continues to fight everyday with her support system behind her and proves her strength to everyone, especially her daughter Isabella.

“Oh my God, she’s more than a fighter, she’s got the strength that I can only wish I could one day,” Isabella said, “I can only hope to be half the woman she is. “
