Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie, a women’s nonprofit, is relaunching their 9-week Breakfast Club program on Tuesday, February 8, virtually.

Breakfast Club is a free nine-week program designed to support unemployed or underemployed women who are actively seeking employment. It runs every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Participants are prepared for their job search by setting goals and learning from staff and volunteer facilitators on topics such as job interviews, communication skills, work-life balance, stepping stones to career, continuing education, motivation and meditation, confidence, support networks and more.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Breakfast Club is operating virtually at 100%. Instead of receiving portraits and hair and makeup sessions at the end of the program, if participants attend seven of the weeks, they will receive a salon gift card and a grocery gift card. The program will return to in-person programming when it is safe to do so.

Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie provides assistance to women during critical life transitions from employment or re-employment. Their website states, “Our vision is a world where women do not live in poverty. We aspire to a world where all women are financially independent, are treated with dignity and respect, and have a direct impact on their lives and those of their families.
