Dame Deborah James raises £1m for cancer with In The Style clothing line
Dame Deborah James has announced that she has raised £1million from sales of her clothing line with In The Style. The cancer campaigner shared a picture on Instagram of a huge check presented yesterday (Friday) by fashion site founder Adam Frisby.
First launched in May, the fashion collection includes floral summer dresses that Dame Deborah herself has worn on her Instagram posts. There are also T-shirts with the words ‘Rebellious Hope’, with donations from sales going to Cancer Research UK.
The 40-year-old podcaster, known on Instagram as Bowel Babe, posted, “WOW!! A MILLION POUNDS. Honestly, I’m so overwhelmed that we, thanks to @inthestyle, have raised over £1,000,000 for @bowelbabefund for @cr_uk! Everything comes from sales of the ITS x Dame Deborah James collection and the “Rebellious Hope” t-shirts that I designed with @inthestyle. (A million is just crazy).
“I had a nice little visit yesterday from founder @inthestyle @fr15by and his partner @thejamiecorbett who brought this lovely check and we had a little toast to celebrate it.
” I can not believe it ! Funny thing is when @inthestyle released the first t-shirt we both said how amazing £50k raised would be so for me to still be there and see that’s more of a million pounds, it’s so incredible!
“Rebellious Hope is what got me through the last few years and what keeps me going now!” Seeing all of your posts, tags and support has been the best and I’m so grateful we got to do this together! Thank you all.”
Dame Deborah has been at home with her parents for over a month and is receiving palliative home care. The mum-of-two was initially diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in December 2016.
