Chi Li, better known to her fans as Petite Dressing on YouTube, took to social media to list some of her favorite tips and tricks — and it turns out that the smallest detail can make a huge difference.

Avoid ankle straps

“If your knees are thicker or your calves are bigger, when you wear a thin strap, it will only make it more obvious that you have thick legs. ”

But do not rush to buy heels with a thicker strap – they can further worsen the contrast.

Skinny vs Straight

Although their heyday is long gone, skinny jeans are still a staple for many fashionistas. But beware — if you’re on the thicker side, you might want to leave them in the past, Chi noted.

For those who are bottom heavy, the prodigy suggested jumping on the straight leg train.

“Because it has volume, it will create a more balanced look. But this volume is not overwhelming.”

Go to line A

”A-line is your best friend. Whether you’re looking for a dress or a skirt, look for the A-line silhouette.

“It defines your waistline and also makes your butt less obvious because it doesn’t stick out.”

wide leg

“If it’s flowy fabrics, it’s actually one of the most flattering for women with thicker legs.

“It doesn’t stick to your butt or thighs and it flows beautifully. ”

wear heels

While all heels, she noted, are a must if you want to elongate your legs, the best option is block heels because they’re “most in tune with your shape.”

”Because they’re a bit wider, they give you more support, they’re easier to walk on and visually they look more balanced.”

The hem matters

In her video, Chi explained that if you have a larger lower half, a short skirt is not an option because it will only draw attention to your legs.

“You want to go longer and cover that part. ”

Shorts

Although summer is now over and you probably don’t need to put on your shorts, it’s best to keep that in mind for the following season next year.

“You want to go for a length that will make you feel comfortable.

“You want it to pass the widest part of your thighs.”

Similar to wide leg bottoms, you also want to look for looser shorts – the extra material, Chi explained, is actually more flattering and, of course, comfortable.

Watch out noon

“You want to be very careful of exactly where your midi skirt ends.

“If it falls at the widest part of your calves, you probably don’t want to go with that length. ”

Instead, to take the focus off your legs, go big or go a step further and get a long skirt.

The right fabrics

When choosing the right garment, avoid materials that are too sticky or too stiff, as this will result in a bulkier look.

“You want to go with fabrics that are thick enough to hold their shape, but you don’t want them to add more bulk.”
