The owner of the “body-positive clothing store” is expanding
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) – Beth Fischer knows a thing or two about style. But it’s her mission behind fashion that’s turning heads.
“The original idea was just to make sure there were clothes available for women who were considered plus size in the area,” said Fischer, owner of Curvology.
Curvology is what Fischer calls Peoria’s, “boutique body-positive clothing.”
“I don’t know what’s in the world that they just think most women are, you know, like a two against a 12, we’ll say. And really, it’s not,” she said.
Fischer has been in business since 2018. But Curvology has now found a new home in Bremer Plaza, a few blocks from its old location.
Fischer celebrates the growth of her business and gives credit to the community.
“I know we always talk about women supporting women, but I can’t even tell you how grateful I am for this community taking those words and really acting on them,” Fischer said.
The new slot has double the space, leaving room for even more inclusive sizing up to 6X. Fischer said the conversation about size inclusion is important and needs to continue.
“Just because I’m a size 14 doesn’t make me any less of someone than someone next to me who’s a size 10. I still have the same value for the same importance,” Fischer said. .
Curvology is hosting its grand reopening celebration on February 25-26. The new store is now located at 4703 N. University St. in Peoria.
